There are numerous studies showing how much we benefit from spending time in nature. Our brains literally change when we’re able to look off into the distance and take in the daylight. Some studies even indicate that after three days in nature, our brains reset to a more healing process. Why? Because we’ve stepped away from the stress of our daily lives, we’re moving actively, breathing fresh air and simply taking in our surroundings with a new perspective. We need light and space to function optimally.
In so many ways, this is an analogy for yoga. Through movement and breath, it’s as if we’re bringing light and space into our own beings. By taking time out of our day, we’re able to set aside the stress for a while and see things differently.
It’s a simple shift. And it can make a world of difference.
So move, breath, look at things differently. Yoga does all of that… naturally.
